Making

All Luci La La products are currently made in my Zurich apartment with a 1960’s PFAFF sewing machine that I set into a beautiful hardwood table I sourced secondhand. By dropping the machine into this table, a much smoother sewing process, with straighter lines is achieved and ensures fabrics will not warp during the construction process.

Luci La La is working with the talented Stockroom Collective, who are pursuing more sustainable routes, to create a limited run of jeans that will be sold through their online store out of Sydney, Australia. We’ve put a lot of love into the making of this micro run and are very excited to bring a really special piece to you.

Luci La La came to be in 2024 while I was living in Scotland, where I sampled possible designs for the label. I worked with the most beautiful 1950’s Brother sewing machine. As expected of a 70 year old machine, it had many quirks, with bobbins needing to be hand wound, but a lovely machine to work with nevertheless. It is now in the care of Aleks at Shop With No Name in Edinburgh, where she is working on her own label. Aleks stocked a few of Luci’s ready to wear pieces during 2024.

Every sampled garment in Scotland was made from fabric remnants, sourced at local op-shops in Stockbridge. I got remarkably lucky, finding the Vintage Liberty Artichoke Linen from my first drop at one of these stores. While living in the UK, I also sourced hardware and fabric for much of my first collection from a deadstock textile store in London, The New Craft House.
